we came at a good time

we decided it would be a good day to tour asuncion. all of our internship supervisors are gone, and we have plenty change in our pockets to get us to el centro and back.

guess what's neat about this time of year/this year in paraguay? they are celebrating their 200 year of independence. people here celebrate it every single day for about a mon
th.

so when we got to el centro, there was dancing, parades and empanadas everywhere. i enjoyed them all. my empanadas was 3000 guaranis (about 75 cents) and it was super fried, with cheese and ham. the best part was that the recipe is no secret, they are happy to cook it in front of my eyes, on the road.

the coolest thing i saw today was a paraguayan bottle dance. the girls would wear beautiful lacy dresses with bottles on their head. i had to keep taking pictures because they kept adding bottles. a girl was eventually dancing with 12 bottles balancing on her head!
