Mr. Virus

don't you hate how a little tiny bacteria can get the best of you? especially when you have a million of cool things planned, they just think they can take over your body like some alien invasion and make you lame for a day.

last night i had a blind date with the porcelain bowl. i had no idea that it was coming. but it came and ruined my night and my day.

i was planning on going to mbaracayu. the all girls agriculture school. i was so excited too, something i've been wanting to do since my arrival.

I HATE Mr. VIRUS.

but i had a great weekend. i love the weekends. get to explore paraguay and talk to people i lub.

haven't seen these girls in a long time:

and we talked and laughed. these girlies are going to samoa today with my papi. sounds miserable. i feel lucky that i can lay in bed at 2pm with an alien in my body,

they're jealous of me. i'm sure of it.

so the other day we went to ITA and caleb wanted to play crocodile hunter. there were crocodiles everywhere.

and we also went to a little town called ATYRA. it is very proud for being the "cleanest and greenest" city of all of paraugay. it was a cute place. they are known for their leather artisan crafts. i went with the hopes of buying a leather bag, but bought a rad belt instead.

and this was the main reason i wanted to come to ATYRA. there is this brand new spanking monastery like place with beautiful paintings and a cool tile. it was a beautiful day.

A Bus, A Man, A Fair.

woke up at 6:30 to catch the 7:30 joy ride on the bus. laura and i were headed to a Fundación Paraguaya office to interview more women about their micro businesses. one of my favorite things in Paraguay are the bus rides. what wakes me up in the morning is knowing i'm going to catch a bus. these were the women we spoke to. the committee's name is "Mujeres Emprendedoras" and i interviewed four women. their businesses consisted of selling lightbulb and other electrical equipment, bijouterie (that's what they call jewelry here), and 2 lingerie businesses. then we took a bus (un colectivo) and got off at an intersection. we were told to stay there and wait for one of the girls from the office. she was going to meet up with us because there was a HUGE fair at a park, and we volunteered to stand and look pretty at the Fundación booth. we got there and waited and waited and waited and waited. after being here for a few weeks, we are now familiar with "paraguayan ...

a frantic finale

the final stretch is always a little frantic. so a quick recap on why i came to paraguay for two months: working with Fundación Paraguaya. there has been a list composed of 48 business ideas taken from the lists of jobs the women do within the foundation. job: make a write up explanation for a business (containing information about the costs of the mercantile, how much money it costs to start the business, some of the advantages and disadvantages, and suggestions from women with experience). goal#1: (week 1-3) 5 fichas. interview at least four women for 1 business (interview 4 women for the empanada business) and make a "ficha" with the information. 7 fichas completed. goal #2: (week 3-7) 5 more fichas. 8 fichas completed. total of 15 fichas out of 48 goal #3: (week 7-9) finish fichas. we sent out our survey to the offices because we thought it would be quicker to get more fichas finished. and it was. within 3 days we have done 13 fichas and now are at 28/48 ...

Little Visit to the Hospital Bautista

it started last night. there is a new cool intern here from Madagascar named Melody and she will be working at the self-sufficient girls school, managing the hotel there. she made the best Ratatouille i've ever had in my life. don't worry, i got the recipe. we ate it with rice and a rosemary chicken. to top off the delicious french flavors, we had a flan, same flan i made a few weeks ago. "YYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMM" - Caleb about 10 minutes later, people where headed to bed and i stayed around talking to those night owls. ALL OF THE SUDDEN my upper lip started to sting. ouch. i figured it was my skin, i've having some problems with eczema on my face and they have been giving me a burning sensation, but this was a little different. i went upstairs to brush my teeth and looked in the mirror.
