An Illigal in Iguaçu

THIS PAST WEEKEND WAS ONE OF CELEBRATION.

It was Nisha's last weekend, and Caleb and my middle mark of staying in Paraguay, Anne was brand new so we decided to do something big.

like.... entering into Brazil illegally and see the worlds largest waterfalls, Iguaçu.

we left asuncion at 1:00 on a double decker sleeper bus. nice accomidations, misserable temperatures. we arrived in Ciudad del Este (the big contraband/sketch city around) around 5:15am and sat frozen for a while.

1:00 am. Nisha and me on the bus

i was extremely nervous about entering BRAZIL. i've heard many things:
- you need a visa
- you don't need a visa unless you get caught (yeah, that didn't sound like fun)
-i think you can walk through and nothing will happen
- what's the worse that can happen?

we found a big taxi, and they charged us 5 dollars to the falls, and five dollars back to Ciudad del Este. BOOM SHAKALAKA. it was a deal.
crossing the boarder was no big deal. the taxi drove right through and my heart went back to a normal beat.

and then IGUAÇU FALLS.

our group of beautiful people: Mike, Caleb, Anne, Nisha, Me, Wes, Ton

and then we saw wondrous things

and then a rainbow appeared from my armpit. thank you deodorant.

and we couldn't handle all the beauty. it was too much

and after that, the taxi picked us up, dropped us off at the paraguayan terminal with a missunderstanding and an extra charge of $5.00. we caught a bus and arrived at the intern house at 9:00. tired and exahsted.

best part of the ride back was that this bus was crammed full of people. people standing in the aisle for 6 hours. the man standing next to us would play Justin Bieber and cumbia music on a speaker the whole way back.

i also got sicks. i'm a sicko. hives all over body. caughing the entire time. i slept all sunday long and i feel a bit better today.

HOW DO I GET A BRAZILIAN MEMBERSHIP???
-Marry a brazilian
-Marry someone who speaks portuguese and wants to live in brazil
-Find a job in brazil

i need to figure it out, but i'm going there.

  1. Glad you did not get arrested and have to spend the rest of your life in hard labor as an illegal immigrant. I have see those falls many times, in person, a long time ago. Once, there was soooo much water that the falls were "gone" and it was a huge river barreling down the canyon. The water was up to the lawn of the pink hotel. It took out the hotel and the Argentine side. Wow!
